On Viale Dante Alighieri, there is also the SANCTUARY OF THE MADONNA DELLA STRADA, built in the 1960s on the remains of an ancient chapel dating back to the 14th century. In Via Arcivescovo De Risio, you can also visit the CHURCH OF SAN PANFILO, which dates back to a period prior to the 14th century. The building was damaged in 1566 by incursions from the Turks and has undergone various modifications over the centuries. The bell tower dates back to the 1700s. In the San Giacomo district, we find the CHURCH OF SAN GIACOMO, which took its name, according to a popular belief, from the finding of a painting of the Apostle St. James the Greater at the site where the church currently stands.
